Spirit Bear Voyages - Explore the Wilderness at Your Own Pace

May 25, 2004 - Port McNeill, British Columbia. Northern Lights Expeditions' Spirit Bear Voyages offer guests the unique opportunity to customize their own itinerary while exploring the incredible wilderness of the British Columbia coast. Travel pace and activities are completely up to the wishes of the guests, affording them a one-of-a-kind adventure vacation.

Small groups and families can book five- to fourteen-day voyages aboard Northern Lights' 40 foot traveling yacht, the Spirit Bear, the finest vessel of its kind on the British Columbia coast. A former salmon fishing troller, the Spirit Bear has undergone extensive and meticulous modifications and refinements, making it a luxurious travel cruiser, complete with hot shower, comfortable sleeping arrangements, state-of-the-art computer navigation system, and gourmet meals served aboard.

BC Business Magazine rates the Spirit Bear Voyages one of "British Columbia's Ultimate Getaways." This is a great way to see bears on shore, filling up on food prior to their hibernation period. It's a perfect platform from which to view the largest resident population of wild orcas in the world, as well as sea lions, porpoises and Pacific white-sided dolphins, who love riding along under the bow of the Spirit Bear as it cruises to a new anchorage.

The Spirit Bear carries expedition quality kayaks, so sea kayaking is always an option. Hiking, bird watching, whale watching, visiting native historical sites, and just relaxing in the sun are all optional activities. There is no more luxurious way to explore one of the most beautiful wilderness areas on earth.

Northern Lights' founder, David Arcese, calls Spirit Bear Voyages "the most innovative and far-reaching kayaking and wildlife watching trips to be found." With no age limit and so many activities to choose from, these trips are perfect for active families. No prior kayaking experience is required, and each voyage includes a naturalist guide and skipper who know the surrounding waters intimately.
